Councilmember Brad Shafer, appointed to serve the Mesquite District in April 2022 and elected in November 2022, brings a dedicated spirit shaped by his service in the United States Air Force. As a third-generation veteran and former first responder, he served as a medic at Luke Air Force Base during the 9/11 attacks and contributed to Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Beyond his military service, Shafer's commitment to community is evident in various leadership roles, including Candeo School Board President, HOA president, and active participation in the Peoria Diamond Club and church leadership. His civic engagement predates his council role, encompassing service on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Charter Review, and Bond Authorization Committees.
