School Safety

With nearly 20 years of experience in public safety, Jeff has the knowledge and vision on how to implement comprehensive school safety. His experience in active shooter drills, access control, and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) will help make our teachers and students safer. Jeff aims to work hand-in-hand with professional staff to ensure Peoria is awarded the safety grants needed to make the required modifications to our schools. Through education, awareness, and training, Peoria will be the model of school safety in the state. Together, Jeff will help oversee the implementation of practical and safe solutions to protect our schools, where every child can learn and thrive from a position of strength.

Back to Basics & Life Preparedness

In PUSD, the alarming statistics reveal a critical need for enhanced education. According to the Arizona Department of Education, only 40% of Peoria graduates test proficient in English Language Arts (ELA) and a mere 37% in math. Needless to say, the district faces an educational crisis. To address this, a Back to Basics focus must become a priority to bolster academic proficiency. Simultaneously, it is imperative to further support practical technical trade education to equip students with tangible skills for the real world. This multifaceted approach ensures graduates not only excel academically but also have the means to pursue in-demand, sustainable career paths. It is the district’s responsibility to return to the business of preparing students for tomorrow with basic academic proficiencies in and Day-One skill SUCCESS!

Balanced Budgets

A balanced budget is crucial for any school district’s financial stability. For Peoria Unified, it is especially important since the Governing Board has not been able to convince the community to pass a Bond for the last decade as well as the creation of a competing K-12 Charter School opening in 2025. Peoria Unified already is facing several financial hurdles ahead, including teacher recruitment and retention, the money needed to increase our student proficiencies, and future Career and Technical Education partnerships. Now is the time where PUSD needs to balance priorities and budgets to be in alignment and make our schools where families and students want to be.
