Joe Biden is the 46th President of the United States, having assumed office in January 2021. He has a long history of public service, beginning in 1973 when he was elected to the New Castle County Council in Delaware. Biden then served as a U.S. Senator representing Delaware from 1973 to 2009, making him one of the longest-serving senators in American history. During his time in the Senate, Biden held influential positions such as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
In 2008, Biden was chosen as the running mate for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. He served as Vice President from 2009 to 2017, during which he played a role in various significant policy decisions, including the economic recovery efforts following the 2008 financial crisis and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.
