Supporting Small Business

As a small business owner and former Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Commissioner Lea Márquez Peterson understands the importance of a business-friendly regulatory environment. On the Commission, Lea has fought to get government out of the way by eliminating costly bureaucracy and improving efficiencies.

Stopping Corruption

Before Commissioner Lea Márquez Peterson’s appointment, the Commission was clouded by controversy. That’s why Lea has fought to improve transparency and rebuild trust with customers. One of Lea’s first actions on the Commission was passing a Code of Ethics to eliminate corruption and influence from the utility industry. Lea actually proposed more stringent rules, but they were not supported by her fellow Commissioners. The Code of Ethics ensures that Commissioners and candidates for the position will not accept political donations from utility companies and must disclose any donations made in the past during a Commission race. Lea will continue bringing integrity to the Commission and fighting corruption by supporting ethical reforms and stronger transparency measures to ensure that the Commission is working in your best interest.

Keeping Rates Affordable & Holding Utilities Accountable

Lea understands that affordable and reliable utilities are vital to Arizona’s long-term growth and economic prosperity - and that utilities work for you, not corporate shareholders and industry lobbyists. Lea’s a proven leader who will continue working with her fellow Commissioners to ensure rates are just and reasonable and utilities are accountable to you.
